GD1400 Computer Animation
Creating a 3D Environment with 3ds max
Due Date: 2nd Class, Week 08, at the beginning of class for a group critique.
Instructions:

Requirements: Each student's powerpoint presentation must contain backstory information, conceptual Research and Development, and well as the final design solution.

Backstory:

  1. Who lives in this environment?
  2. What does the occupant like to eat?
  3. Where does he/she do their activities?,
  4. Who is the occupants favorate musical group or person?
  5. What activities occur in this environment?

Reserach & Development:

  1. Visual inspiration
  2. Photos of the actual environment
  3. Sketches and/or drawings
  4. Web and or library (print) resources

Final Design Solution:

  1. Final renderings from multiple different views (minimum of three)
  2. An explanation of your final design solution (verbal and visual)

Recommendations: These are helpful suggestions to improve your powerpoint presentation.

In Progress work:

  1. Documentation of your workflow thoughout your project is not only educational but also interesting.
  2. Show your progress, what worked, what didn't work, why you changed your mind.

 

 

Grading: will be based on how successful you were at demonstrating the following:
  1. Detailed and complex use of 3d forms.
  2. Lighting that shows, shade, shadows, shading in and around your 3D environment.
  3. Use of premade and or custom materials from the 3ds max material library.
  4. Good composition in your renderings via effective framing from within the camera shots.
  5. Quality of presentation.
This Assignment: will address the following course competencies:

    concentration.
  2. Demonstrate awareness of multimedia computer capabilities and applications.
