Broadcast Graphics Assignment 3 – Movie Titles.

According to IMDB.com, there are 9 major motion pictures from major U.S. studios  set to open in January 2011.  (http://www.imdb.com/nowplaying/2011/01/)

Our small motion graphics studio is vying for the privilege of creating the title sequence for one of them.

Your task is to choose one, find out as much about it as you can, and create a short version of the sequence we would create for the film.   (A sort of “proof-of-concept” to help sell our talents to the producers.)

The restrictions are this:

  • The sequence can be no longer than 45 seconds.
  • It must include the names of:
    • The studio
    • The producers
    • The director
    • The main stars
  • The style must match the tone, tenor and style of the film.
  • Final delivery specifications TBD.  Assume 16X9 HD, 24fps.

You may choose the music for your title; again, it must be in keeping with the film.
You must be able to clearly articulate the choice of type and graphic elements within the sequence.
You may, (and in fact, I would encourage you to do so), use mixed-media in your work; paint, glass, smoke, paper, sand, dirt, liquids of all sorts…. Shoot this stuff live, and then think abstractly.  Use them as graphical elements, as metaphors and similes.
