Using 3ds max 2011, model an environment (room) of your own design that tells a story about the occupant of the environment. Who is the occupant? How do they live? How do he or she maintain the space?
You should create this room as a possible digital set for your final project: compositing in After Effects.
Each student must use the following tools:
- Standard & Extended Primitives
- Parametric modifiers
- Lights & cameras
- Materials applied to objects
Your room should include at least:
- t two places to sit
- one table
- one window
- one door
- three stair steps
- Props or accessories such as lamps, table ware, sporting goods, audio video and computer equipment, etc.
To turn in:

Three 800X600 renders in .tif format

Your 3DS Max project file

Your Powerpoint presentation
Your Powerpoint presentation must include:

Your reference images for what you wanted your finished room to look like.

How you began the project.

At least FOUR in-progress steps with screen captures.

At least THREE tips and tricks (or solutions to problems) that you found along the way.

The finished renders of your room.
- Who is the occupant of this environment?
- What is the occupant like (habits, likes and dislikes, activities?
- What is the main activity that occurs in this environment?
- Where is this environment located geographically (climate)?
Each student will turn in a copy of your powerpoint presentation along with the 3ds max file into
DropOff(Z):\Steve Paul\ProductionFundamentals\Finshed 3D Environment\(your name) folder. |
