Computer Graphics Project List

  1. Two Words
    1. Choose two words that have opposite meanings.  Using whatever skills and resources you can muster, create a short motion graphics piece that illustrates the words and their conflict. 
    2. This should be 15-30 seconds long and should NOT include any video. 
    3. Audio is not required, but may be helpful.
    4. This should be rendered as a QuickTime movie, DV NTSC format. 

     

  2. Dialogue -- worth 10% points.
    1. Take a 15-30 second dialogue from a movie or television episode, and illustrate it graphically, without using any video from the source. 
    2. Audio is required.
    3. Rendered as a QuickTime, DV NTSC.

    This is due Week 03, second class.

     

  3. Music
    1. Create a 30-45 second motion graphics work that illustrates an excerpt of music. 
    2. Audio is required.
    3. QuickTime, DV NTSC

    This is due Week 05, second class.

     

  4. Title Sequence Traveling on a High Frequency Title Sequence Page
    1. Create a 60 second Title sequence for a movie or television show.  This should illustrate all information the audience needs to know about the time period, the characters, the location and the general mood of the film/show. 
    2. This will be a 'client-based' project. You will be given information on the show, including music and/or narration, concept, logos, and credits.
    3. You will all be working on the same show, in three teams, with each team given a different segment to create an opening for.
    4. In one week, (week 06, second class), we will be reviewing your progress. You must have:
      1. At least one still or moving image for every 5 seconds of the sequence.
      2. The rough sequence must be renedered as a QuickTime, DV NTSC widescreen, progressive scan, with audio.
    5. The final version is also QuickTime, DV NTSC widescreen, progressive scan, with 48khz, 16-bit, stereo audio.

    This is due Week 07, second class.

     

  5. Final Project – Students’ Choice
    1. Your choice of projects. 
      1. This can be a music video, a program opener or end credit sequence, a bit of dialogue, a commercial or a DVD menu.
    2. This will be broken down into four parts:
      1. Proposal -THIS IS DUE NEXT CLASS, (class 01, week 8)
        1. This is worth 5% points
        2. This should be written, in a Word document, and describe your final project.
        3. It should include:
          1. The overall pitch or 'elevator speech'
          2. What it is.
          3. Who it's for.
          4. The style you're going for.
          5. Where it will be played, (internet, TV, the movies...)
          6. How long it will be.
      2. Style Sheets -- THIS IS DUE CLASS 02, WEEK 8.
        1. This is worth 10% points.
        2. This should include:
          1. A rough cut of your audio
          2. An image, still or moving, for at least every five seconds
          3. It should clearly show your stylistic intentions for the work.
          4. It MUST be the same length as your final product.
      3. Rough cut-- THIS IS DUE CLASS 02, WEEK 9.
      4. Final -- FOR GRADUATES: THIS IS DUE CLASS 02, WEEK 10.
      5. Final --FOR NON-GRADUATES: THIS IS DUE CLASS 02, WEEK 11.
