The Bouncing Ball Assignment

Create an animation about 10 seconds in length of a bouncing ball.  This animation can be created in any medium you wish, (CG, 3D, Stop-Motion, Pencil on Paper, etc.), but should be completed (rendered to a QuickTime movie) in After Effects.

The animation should:

  1. Bounce at least three times and clearly demonstrate its weight and ‘bounciness’, through squash and stretch, timing and spacing.
  2. The ball bouncing should be rendered as a QuickTime.
  • This is due next time, at the beginning of class.
  • Render it as a QuickTime movie, 800X600, using either the DV/DVC Pro NTSC or H.264 compressor.

To Turn In:

A folder with ---

1. The After Effects Project folder should be labeled with your first AND last name.

2. The folder should include your final QuickTime movie.

The animations should be very SIMPLE --- keep it achieveable, but effective.
This is an opportunity to explore methods and techniques while focusing on fundamentals.

  • Drop it off in our drive on the Network, and we’ll take a look at these next time.
